We hold our fund raiser in the fall and combine a luncheon with a fashion show. All members assist by managing invitations and reservations, preparing and serving the food and punch, hosting and decorating a table, collecting money at the various tables, providing items for the Plant Sale Table, Baked Goods Table, Collectibles Table, preparing baskets for the Opportunity Table and modeling in the Fashion Show.
Jo Eshleby presented the vintage fashions from varoius Fashion Designers and Movie Wardrobes that she received while working in the industry before her retirement.
The funds are used to provide three $500 scholarships to local students who have enrolled in a course of study in horticulture, floriculture, landscaping, environmental studies, conservation or a related field. We also support the Botanical Garden at California State University Northridge, the Penny Pines reforestation project in California, the Theodore Payne Foundation (for preservation of native plants) and the 5th Grade Rose Garden at Calvert Street Elementary School.
